​Domo Sapiens Circus was born in Barcelona´s underground by a group of people coming from circus, classic and street theater, all connected by a way of life that looks for happiness through the horizontal self-management and fantasy.

 

The itinerant creation project takes place under the Geodesic Dome, a 12.5 meters diameter and 7.5 meters high´s cupola, intentionally permeable to different contexts and in permanent evolution.

Duomo Sapiens company was born at the end of 2010, due to the links between a varied group of professional artists, who got in touch within the social/artistic alternative and self-managed movement in Barcelona, with one goal: to take out this functioning and creation model to make it visible to the maximum number of people.

​We would like to make people rediscover circus social function, and we would also be delightful to take it where it doesn´t usually arrives, that´s why we would like to get the small villages as well.

​In our opinion, circus is a popular art, not exclusive or elitist at all.

We get this goal thanks to our Geodesic Dome, where all the itinerant artistic demonstrations take place along different villages and towns, resorting all kind of circuits: commercial and other social or artistic projects.

The Geodesic Dome is the central axis of our project Domo Sapiens Circus, it is the itinerant framework where our offer takes place.

It is a hemispherical frame (5/8 of a sphere) made up of several tubular metal pieces joint and covered by a fireproof and waterproof canvas.

The result is a circular plant 12.5 meters diameter space, 7.5 meters high at the top and 200 people capacity.

​​WHY A GEODESIC DOME?

The Dome has also a symbolic meaning for our company. Its design is based in old geometrical Pythagorean studies. It replies essential geometry of universal creation (the Sun, the Earth, the cell atoms….). Inside it, we find a clear and open space (without any column) which serves as a perfect energy receiver and transmitter.

​​Also it has been verified that fixing the framework to the floor, it can alter electromagnetic waves and this affects to the energetic balance of things located in the middle of it. The geometrical sphere center is also called singularity point or Bindu´s point, and it is used by different types of meditation to improve their results.

The Geodesic Dome is also valued by a lot of musicians and artists because of their acoustic characteristics and resonance. Summing up, the inside of Dome´ space and particularly its geometric center, is a very attractive place to develop artistic activities due to its physical conditions. We can´t forget that the framework base is a circle where nobody can have a privileged position (as Knights of the Round Table). This fact has a parallelism with the organization of our company, where decisions are always taken unanimously, and work and responsibilities are always equitably shared.
